How Non-Profits are leveraging the best of Technology to support mission during COVID-19 crisis — The JDRF Story

COVID-19 has put the entire planet in unprecedented times, including non-profits who are serving the community for social good.

Thanks to Technology, COVID-19 has not put brakes on JDRF team serving the T1D (Type 1 Diabetics) community and the mission (JDRF is one of the leading global non-profit finding a cure of T1d through research).With the help of technology JDRF is continuously serving the T1d community at the same pace and dedication as before.

Following are some of the key technologies JDRF team is using during this pandemic.

· Virtual Working: All of JDRF employees are working remotely now. The transition to virtual working has been seamless due to the right technology JDRF has put in place for its employees. During last year, as part of JDRF’s Digital Transformation initiative, all of JDRF employees were provided with laptops, collaboration technology platforms (e.g., Microsoft TEAMS), productivity platforms (e.g., O365, OneDrive), video conferencing (Zoom and Teams), and cyber-security tools (e.g., Multi-Factor Authentication, 24×7. Cyber Monitoring).

· Move to Cloud Based Applications: JDRF has transitioned all of its legacy on-site business operations applications to cloud (e.g., Finance systems, People Systems, CRM systems, Email, Data Warehouse to AWS/Azure). This has ensured business continuity even though all of the employees are remote now.

· Leverage Digital Channels to Support T1d Community: JDRF has continuously updated its website to provide up to date Covid-19 information for T1d community ( JDRF internal intranet for employees (MyJDRF) has also been revamped to ensure staff is aware of the latest communications. JDRF is also leveraging social channels to keep the T1d community informed during the COVID-19 crisis.

JDRF will be continuously upgrading its technology to support and accelerate the T1d mission in future.
